Decade: 5 Worst TV Shows
Lists, I love making lists and I love arguing over them. Lately I’ve been sifting through a few, and most of them have to do with the best or the greatest achievements of the decade. For example, TV Shows, Movies, Albums and even Catchphrases. That’s all fine and dandy, but what people are really looking for is not another “Best Of” list to argue over, but a “Worst...

Apologies All Around / A Change Gonna Come
If this is your first time reading this blog, congratulations, and if you’ve read this blog previously, sorry to both of you for the recent lack of concentration on my part, strike one. To maybe keep me a little more interested, I’m changing up the blog to be a little more versatile. In other words, I won’t just be strictly blogging music, I’m thinking of incorporating...

Update: Silver Jews is not a Pavement side project
Because this seemed to be my assumption all of these years, but since I picked up my first Silver Jews album, I realize that I was mistaken. This isn’t another group of simple songs written by Stephen Malkmus, as Dave Berman has released six albums over a 15 year span, and most of the albums are of the critically acclaimed variety. His songs always get stuck in my head and not really the...

James Mercer in feature length film?
Well, sort of. Apparently the lead singer of the Shins is the lead actor in Matt McCormick’s new film Some Days Are Better Than Others. This film also features the former drummer of Sleater-Kinney, Carrie Brownstein. This isn’t the first time the two have worked together on a project, as Matt McCormick created the character that Mercer plays in the Shins’ music video Past &...

i really like the crowds at the really big shows
I guess The Hold Steady kicking off their September 19th show at the Vogue with Positive Jam is fairly obvious, seeing as the lyrics are We gotta start it off with a positive jam, HOLD STEADY!, but it was what everyone was praying for. Craig Finn and his audiences are a perfect match. There was head smacking, hand waving and various slapstick behaviour, then there was Craig Finn.
This show...

Choice Disney Tunes
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a classic Disney movie…ok maybe a month, but one thing about is similar about all of them, they have really cool soundtracks. I’ve decided to countdown my top 10 favourite Disney tracks. Now just to be clear, these are my favourites, I know everyone will disagree with this list, and I probably will in about a week, so let’s get it...

Sinister Purpose?
I was watching a repeat of The Late Show with David Letterman last night, and was excited to hear that John Fogerty was the musical guest. But when the time came for his performance, I got this. After the solid return from his previous album Revival, Fogerty decided to return to cruise control by covering old classics. In this case, it was an Everly Brothers song that got an undeserved...

09-09-09
We interrupt this week of Canadian music to bring you breaking news; The Beatles have invaded, for a second time. Yes, I too have been sucked in by Beatlemania, buying an Xbox 360 just so I could play The Beatles Rockband, and purchasing all of The Beatles remasters. I got them in stereo first of all, because they were all out of the mono’s and I didn’t think I could wait that long for another...

Five K-OS Songs
Here’s the thing, k-os is the first rapper I ever liked. About 5 years ago, when I first started to explore music beyond my father’s collection and my mother’s radio stations, I listened to everything I could get my hands on. Surfing the radio dial was a big part of that too, staying up late in my room, listening to the late night DJ who thinks that nobody is listening. Among many other songs, I...
