The Oregon based Blitzen Trapper, who recently signed onto Sub Pop records after self-releasing their first 3 albums, are learning that although there are perks of being on a prominent record label, but you can lose some freedoms. The recently released Black River Killer EP is just last year’s release EP3 along with their new disturbing, but great single Black River Killer (Which by the way, has one of the best videos I’ve seen all year) from their 2008 release Furr. The band wanted to make the EP3 more of a wide release, but since it had such a close proximity to their album Furr’s release, Sub Pop vetoed it. But in short, the new ep is pretty good. But if you’re new to Blitzen Trapper, I’d start elsewhere, like maybe Wild Mountain Nation or Furr. Enjoy!
