It’s a real downer that these guys have toiled in the shadows for so long. The Detroit-based psycho pop group Outrageous Cherry has been kicking around for almost two decades and only recently had I heard about them. They have consistently been putting out albums that sound like what you’d hear on AM radio in the 60’s/70’s.

I was able to find there second album Stereo Action Rent Party at a used record store in Vancouver, and even though it’s all covers, they seem to do a pretty decent job with all of the covers. A personal favorite of mine off the record is their cover of Television’s Days. But they also pay tribute to such class acts like The Smiths, Brian Eno, The Beach Boys, Leonard Cohen, Scott Walker and Peutula Clark. Although it doesn’t say anywhere in the liner notes who they covered, it created a better illusion. That they made each song there own by putting their own spin on each song. Enjoy.
